Question: Thank you for answering my question. I know kids can get scared on the potty if they have a hard poop but I don't think that's it because we went through that already. Do you think the reason for hiding and going everywhere else is attention because we still have to change his brother's diapers or could there be somthing else going on. Linda

Jealousy and need for attention can be a cause for potty training problems as well. When potty training problems are persistent, the following tips may be helpful:

- Offering a reward for using the toilet, including lots of praise and attention.
- Have the child be involved in changing himself
- Avoid physical punishment and harsh words.
