Answer to your Health Question

Question: I have a nephew who is 8 years old and is constantly soiling and wetting his pants. He does not do this at school, only when at home or on the weekends wherever he may be, even after he is reminded to go to the toilet every hour- any ideas, could it be medical? Andrea

Answer: Dear Andrea,

One question to ask your nephew is if he is going to the bathroom when at school. He might be afraid of going to the bathroom in general, therefore creating the need to urinate in his pants.

Psychological factors can affect a kid's need and urge to have bowel movements and urinate. Relief will be based in discovering what the factor is and treating it.
