Answer to your Health Question

Question: I am a female, 43 yrs old just had bladder sling surgery on 09-0-06. Today, when trying to go to the restroom I feel like I could explode and it is very painful, like I can't get it all out. I did come home with a catheder/had it 3 days. Is this normal and if so when will it get better? Patty

Answer: Dear Patty,

Recovery from a bladder sling surgery takes approximately between 2 to 4 weeks. Pain after surgery is not uncommon and depends on the nature of the procedure, physical condition and personal response to pain.

Pain at the incision site and abdominal cramping are normal. If pain is excessive, call your doctor.
