Answer to your Health Question

Question: I would like to know what causes me to bruise so easily. Someone can poke me and I'll bruse and it won't go away for about a week. Is it iron problems or something to do with my blood or what? Thanks, Krystal

Answer: Dear Krystal,

As people age, bruising becomes more common as the capillaries age and the skin thinnens. In some people, bruising can occur due to blood clotting problems. Low levels of platelets in the blood can be a cause for easy bruising.
