Answer to your Health Question

Question:

Hello! I am a 24 year old female.

I am always tired, even after I woke up in the mornings.

My muscles ache, especially in my back (shoulder blades, shoulders and neck).

It even feels like a burden to walk, as my muscles ache everywhere.

I am very swollen in my abdominal area and my whole body also swells up.

This swelling of the abdominal area also causes my lower back to pain and I also sometimes find it harder to breath.

I picked up a lot of weight where as I am not normally an overweight person.

I hate this, as I haven't done or ate anything different!

I have a lot of mood changes, such as irritability and I feel depressed and stressed over nothing at all.

I don't enjoy the things that I normally enjoy and I don't want to socialize like I use to.

My sex drive also went downhill.

I suffer from a lot of headaches and migraines and I am dizzy sometimes.

I also see little "worms" swimming in front of my eyes.

What could be wrong with me?

I have pain every day of my life and I am sick of it!

I have been to doctors and I haven't found the solution to my problems yet.

Please help!

Answer:

Dear Drienie

To be always tired, muscles ache, swelling, mood changes, to be depressed, headaches and migraines are all symptoms of a thyroid problem.

The problem may be your thyroid. A blood test would confirm it.

You thyroid may be underactive, producing too little thyroid hormone or overactive producing too much thyroid hormone.

Because some early symptoms are easily ignored or mistaken for signs of anxiety disorders , millions of cases of thyroid disease remain undiagnosed.

Depression also results from hypothyroidism.

Many people affected by hyperthyroidism also develop swelling problems.

Signs that you may have a thyroid problem are:

-Muscle and Joint Pains Problems
-Depression and Anxiety
-Weight Changes
-Fatigue

Feeling exhausted when you wake up, feeling as if 8 or 10 hours of sleep a night is insufficient or being unable to function all day without a nap can all be signs of thyroid problems.

Another condition that fit your symptoms is fibromyalgia.

Signs and symptoms of fibromyalgia are:

-Pain on the back on the head
-Pain between shoulder blades
-Pain on the top of shoulders
-Fatigue
-Chronic fatigue syndrome
-Depression
-Headaches
