Answer to your Health Question

Question: Can a doctor deny a patient much needed medical care because they aren't able to pay? Can surgery that may save a life be denied? Carolyn

Answer: Dear Carolyn,

Most states have regulations that do not allow to discriminate in the provision of emergency medical services on the basis of race, sex, color, creed, or prior inquiry as to ability to pay. Also, states have health services departments where it is possible to inquire about such regulations.
