Answer to your Health Question

Question: How long can a person receive platelets as in treatments like receiving blood? Mike

Answer: Dear Mike,

Platelets transfusions are usually given when a person's platelet count is lower than normal (200-400). Many people need only a few transfusions to increase their levels, while others need many. Platelets can usually be given repeatedly without causing any problems.
