Question: If a person is taking an antibiotic eye drop, is it ok to get a flu shot? If not, how long should one wait after finishing the drops? Thomas

Answer: Dear Thomas,

The CDC recommends people not to have a flu shot if the following are present:

- Severe allergic reaction to chicken/egg protein
- Have a fever or illness that is more than just a cold
- Have had a moderate reaction to a previous flu vaccine
- Have ever been paralyzed due to Guillain-Barre Syndrome
