Answer to your Health Question

Question:

Hi, I had my c-section on 24th of May and I am under medication (oxycodone and Ibuprofen).

I had abdominal pain and one night I just made a sudden move and I had a cramp on my left side of abdomen and I am still having those cramps very often and now I can see a lump on my left abdomen.

Please let me know if this is normal. Thanks in advance

Lakshmi

Answer:

Dear Lakshmi,

After a cesarean section, you should call to your doctor or midwife if:

Your abdomen feels tender or full and hard.

Abdominal pain may be caused by trauma to the abdominal muscles during the delivery.

It goes away on its own during recovery.

It is totally normal to feel a small lump or two and still having those cramps.

By the end of six weeks, some people feel pretty good after c-section, although still dealing with some pain and sleeplessness.

After this period you can usually resume most activities

One thing that surprise many women after c-section is the numbness and itching.

This is supposed to go away within a few weeks but doesn't always.

It doesn't indicate that there is something wrong.

The best advice that anyone can give you, is to rest.

And sleep whenever possible.
