Answer to your Health Question

Question:

Five days ago my gallbladder was removed and the liquid skin adhesive used in the surgery to secure skin strips caused a contact allergy reaction with blistering, edema and erythema to the incision sites.

Is there any treatment?

Thanks

Gabriella

Answer:

Dear Gabriella,

Treatment may include administration of oral Benadryl® 50mg every 4 hours until the pruritus stop with saline compresses to the incision sites changed daily.

Methylprednisolone, a steroid, may be also prescribed .
