Dear Philip,

High cholesterol usually does not show any symptoms, especially in early stages.

In some fit people over 40 the feeling of tiredness may be a symptom of high cholesterol in early stages.

One of the causes of a vascular disease is elevated LDL cholesterol in blood.

Symptoms of a vascular disease include:

- Numbness of limbs.
- Swelling of limbs.
- Dizziness.
- Loss of balance.
- Blurred vision.
- Chest pain.
- Agitation to walk or perform daily physical activities.

A characteristic of very high cholesterol is the presence of small yellow bumps around the eyes, arms, legs and stomach called xanthomas.
