Answer to your Health Question

Question: My partner died of liver cancer in July 2002. He was only ill for 6 months. We became partners in Nov. 2000. As a precaution, I was tested for HIV in March 2002. Tested negative. Should I be tested in the future? JR

Answer: Dear J R,

HIV antibodies may take up to 3 months to develop in the body. If a person takes a test soon after thinking he/she has been infected then the results may not be conclusive and another test may be necessary.
