Answer to your Health Question

Question: I have large spots, raised bumps on my inner thighs. What could this be? I have had them for three weeks. Charlene

Answer: Dear Charlene,

The symptoms you mention are common when suffering from a rash. Causes for a rash include:

- Poison ivy
- Chemicals, soaps, detergents
- Insect bites/stings
- Medications
- Eczema
- Psoriasis
- Shingles

Rashes usually improve by themselves with time and some simple care tips:

- Avoid scrubbing skin
- Use warm water for cleaning
- Exposed the affected area to air as much as possible

Hydrocortisone cream (1%) is also recommended for rashes and does not need a prescription. A rash can take weeks to completely disappear. If symtoms get worse it is recommended that you visit a doctor.
