Answer to your Health Question

Question: For about a week I have had an awful taste in my mouth. I brush and floss daily, and this taste almost seems moldy and dry. Any ideas? It won't go away. Paula

Answer: Dear Paula,

Bad breath and taste in the mouth can have different causes such as:

- Certain foods (onion, garlic)
- Alcohol
- Dental problems
- Dry mouth (lack of saliva)
- Diseases such as lung infections, kidney failure, diabetes, acid reflux
- Mouth/nose/throat conditions
- Tobacco
- Dieting

Depending on the cause, the treatment to follow varies.
