Answer to your Health Question

Question: What might cause a red ring, slightly itchy on the skin? Catherine

Answer: Dear Catherine,

1. Disseminated granuloma annulare. This condition causes defined ring shaped areas on the skin usually on the fingers or ears but can also appear on the chest and abdomen. Treatment is usually not necessary but a steroid medication cream can be helpful.

2. Ringworm. A contagious fungus infection that looks like a circle rash on the skin and usually appears on the scalp, the body, feet or nails.
