Answer to your Health Question

Question: Recently I awoke to very red, and mucus filled eyes. That was 2 days ago. I have no fever, but today, my eyes are less red but I have no energy at all. I have no other symptoms. Susan

Answer: Dear Susan,

The symptos you describe adhere to some kind of eye infection.

It could be conjunctivitis which is an inflammation (redness, pain, and swelling) of the conjunctiva in the eye. One type of conjunctivitis is called pinkeye, a contagious infection in which the eyes become pinkish red and watery. Pinkeye is usually treated with eye drops. This infection may have occurred due to allergies or from a scratch on the surface of the eye.

After the body’s immune system has been fighting an infection lack of energy is normal afterwards.
