Answer to your Health Question

Question: I have been having dizzy spells without headaches or other problems; what could be causing this? I just had a physical last week and everything was fine. Lee

Answer: Dear Claudia,

You might be getting dizzy if there is not enough blood getting to your brain. This can happen if there is a sudden drop in blood pressure or from dehydration. Many people, especially as they get older, experience dizziness or lightheadedness if they get up too quickly from a lying or seated position. Lightheadedness can often accompany allergies.

If you tend to get lightheaded when you stand up, avoid sudden changes in posture. Drinking fluids could help alleviate the dizziness.
