Answer to your Health Question

Question: I have a cousin that has been told she has estromilitis. I just wanted to know what it is. They said it had to do with the bone? Brandy

Answer: Dear Brandy,

The disease you may be referring to is osteomyelitis which is an infection of the bone. The causes for this disease include:

- Open injury to the bone
- An infection somewhere in the body that has spread to the bone
- Minor trauma
- Bacteria in the bloodstream

When osteomyelitis is left untreated it can become chronic and a loss of blood to the bone can happen which translates in the death of the bone tissue.
