Answer to your Health Question

Question:

What material is the sling made of?

Is it Wire mesh?

I need to fill out MRI papers and they ask this question.

Answer:

Synthetic materials are used in sling surgery

A sling procedure - the most common surgery to treat stress incontinence - uses strips of your body's tissue or synthetic material or mesh (polypropylene mesh).

Some popular types of sling material are Teflon (polytetrafluoroethylene), Gore-Tex ® , and rectus fascia (fibrous tissue of the rectum).
